Vice President of Clinical Services sought for a multi-site provider of Skilled Nursing (SNF), Long-Term Care (LTC) and Senior Living (Assisted Living, Memory Care) in the Midwest, with relocation assistance available and a talented team to support.

The person stepping into the VP of Clinical role will provide servant leadership (I'm here for you; what do you need from me to succeed?). They will educate care teams to ensure clinical oversight and compliance with both Federal CMS and State regulations along with quality measures.

As a company, this provider is renowned for offering high quality care and customer service, and so this VP of Clinical will be tasked with maintaining that peak level service on a daily basis.
How will this be accomplished?
By providing teams with education, mentoring, and a depth of understanding - not just of what the regulations are, but also why they are written that way and how following them will result in better care for senior residents.

The responsibilities of the Vice President of Clinical Services 
  • Provides leadership, direction and oversight for clinical operations in health centers and assisted living operations.
  • Supports and mentors clinical leaders across the company, establishing consistent practices and systems. 
  • Implements and maintains top clinical practices as well as resident-centered service. 
  • Mentors associates to help them meet their potential and holds clinical leadership accountable to achieve goals.
  • Creates and establishes philosophies, policies and processes to ensure consistent compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards for all clinical care areas (AL, ML, NF). 
  • Ensures that teams have necessary tools, resources and education to maintain top quality care.
  • Spots risks and/or issues, and corrects promptly so quality and compliance are consistently maintained.
  • Makes sure on-boarding, training and ongoing development of clinical leadership gives them confidence and skills to experience success. 
  • Partners with other team leaders across departments to ensure that all are on the same page and working toward clearly articulated achievements.
  • Monitors State and Federal regulatory requirements for updates, and them provide any required updates via education of all affected teams.  
  • Collaborates with leaders to explore ways to draw and retain clinical talent for all properties.
  • Meets budget, manages census requirements, etc. 
  • Supports MDS Coordinators and reimbursement teams to verify that they have what they need to correctly identify all areas of potential reimbursement.
  • Innovates to ensures quality care whenever possible.
  • Digs in when issues arise to identify root causes and develops immediate Plans of Correction in partnership with the Director of Nursing.  
  • Analyzes data and reviews outcomes to spot areas for improvement and create sharable reports of findings.

Ideal candidates will bring:
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa, or the ability to quickly acquire one.
  • 5-7 years leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing or Long Term Care setting.
  • At least 3 years in a multi-community clinical oversight role.
  • Savvy with Memory Care, Home Health, &/or Hospice a plus.
  • A well-honed ability to advocate for the needs of residents, staff, and families when the need calls for it.
  • Passion for serving the healthcare needs of seniors.
  • Affinity for mentoring others and educating teams.
  • Strategic planning skills, with a gift for clearly communicating goals and then breaking out the steps required to achieve them.
  • Extremely developed understanding of Federal and State (CMS and DIA) regulatory requirements for SNF/ LTC settings.
  • Reasons beyond the job to live in central Iowa, ideally in within commutable distance to the Des Moines area.
  • Ability to deliver information with polish to a wide variety of people, from all ranges of the professional spectrum.
