Meet Ian, Executive Recruiter - Interim Services

We recently interviewed Ian Baker, an Executive Recruiter with the Interim Services division, to find out a little more about him and his role at LeaderStat. Enjoy!

1. How long have you been with LeaderStat?

I have been with LeaderStat for almost 2 years now.

2. What is your position now and what are your primary responsibilities?

I am currently an executive recruiter for the interim team. My job is to find, submit and place qualified candidates into skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities that are having staffing issues.

3. What does your typical day look like?

I start my day off by going through the job order list and calling candidates who I believe are qualified for the specific jobs that I am working on. I then focus on screening candidates and setting up travel arrangements and start dates for candidates who are approved for interim positions.

4. What do you love most about your job?

I love the daily challenge that is involved with finding qualified candidates who are readily available for our current openings. There is no better feeling than being able to fill a critical or immediate job opening with a nurse or administrator who can start right away and really make a positive impact on a building. I also love the relationships that I have been able to make with the many nurses that I have worked with over the past 2 years. We work with so many dedicated and hard-working consultants and I truly love hearing about their experiences and travel and hearing about what they like to do in their free-time while they are traveling.

5. Tell us about a great experience one of your candidates has had.

I work with an interim MDS Coordinator from Minnesota. On her off days, she enjoys photography and finding scenic areas where she can take lots of pictures. It was awesome to see her take an assignment in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she was able to take some great pictures on her off days. I enjoy seeing nurses like her travel to new places and experience new things.

6. If you could give some advice to candidates who are looking to try interim work for the first time, what would it be?

My advice for anyone who is looking to try interim work would be to always work hard, make a positive impact on the building that you are going to, and on your off days, get out and explore or try something new.

7. What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends – pre-COVID-19 and during COVID-19?

My favorite thing to do on the weekends pre-COVID-19 was hiking and fishing and luckily I have still been able to do both during COVID-19.

Thanks for the interview, Ian, and for being such a fantastic LeaderStat team member. We appreciate you!
