Meet Michelle, Executive Search Consultant

At LeaderStat, we work with amazing people and Michelle Koch is one of them! Michelle is an Executive Search Consultant and works in our Scottsdale, Arizona office. We recently sat down with her and asked her some questions about her role with LeaderStat.

  1. How long have you been with LeaderStat?
    11 years in March.
  2. What is your position now and what are your primary responsibilities?
I am an Executive Search Consultant, and I both recruit and account manage for post-acute healthcare and senior living. My territory for account management includes the Pacific Northwest through north Mountain States and Iowa.
  3. What does your typical day look like?
I spend time marketing to healthcare companies introducing them to our recruitment services as well as the rest of LeaderStat’s services, and encourage them to partner with us to streamline their hiring. Once I connect with a company that expresses interest, then we establish an official partnership and I work to better understand their needs so that we can meet them.

I also will reach out to potential candidates for my assorted open job orders, sharing with them the details of the opportunity in case it may either be one that appeals to them personally, or in case they may have a friend or acquaintance who they could recommend. When a potential candidate expresses interest, they share their updated resume and we have a conversation about their work history and career goals. If those goals match up to the needs of my client, then we present that candidate to the client.
  4. What do you love most about your job?
I’ve had family members who have needed skilled nursing, memory care and assisted living. It makes me happy to know that when I’m placing great people into leadership roles in these settings, I make a difference beyond just the career of the candidate, or the job opening of the client. The great people LeaderStat places make a difference in the lives of those residents, family members and staff too. That gives a depth of meaning to everything that I do.

Also, I work with a really funny assortment of people and we spend our workdays cracking each other up; you can’t have too much of that in an office!
  5. What do you enjoy least?
I think the common parlance is “ghosting.” The people who inexplicably cease all communication, when a ten second text would fill me in and let me know what’s happening, drive me bananas.
  6. What type of music do you listen to?
I gravitate toward Alt Rock, but I like all kinds of stuff. Generally at work I’m streaming my favorite station from when I used to live in Los Angeles – KCRW – because they have a 24/7 music stream that is wildly eclectic, but always cool.
  7. What is your favorite thing to do on the weekends – pre-COVID-19 and during COVID-19? Pre-Covid, we’d regularly go to the movies and take weekend road trips. During Covid, we tend to lounge around the house with our three cats, watch sci-fi and read novels.

Thank you, Michelle. We appreciate everything you do and are so glad you are part of the LeaderStat team!
