LeaderStat is representing a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) client in the heart of Tacoma, Washington that seeks an experienced Registered Nurse leader (RN in WA) for their Director of Nursing (DON, DNS) position. 

An ideal fit here will be an RN in Washington who has previously lead a clinical team in a skilled nursing facility setting. Any prior experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, or behavioral health, will be an asset here. 
 

As you step into the leadership role here, you'll be supported by top tier regional clinical leaders as well as a talented Nursing Home Administrator as your daily work partner. This is an opportunity to be deeply engaged in your work, and fulfilled too.

Directors of Nursing are responsible for leading and supervising a nursing unit.

This position is ultimately responsible, and accountable, for the nursing care received by residents. The DON here will report to the Nursing Home Administrator.

Specifically, Director of Nursing job duties include:

  • Directing the nursing program, including implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
  • Overseeing hiring, firing, and development of nursing staff
  • Communicating with families, residents, and physicians as needed
  • Developing a business plan and budget for the nursing unit
  • Participating in creating resident care plans and ensuring they are followed
  • Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations

Director of Nursing jobs require a candidate who has significant critical care and operations management experience, a strong understanding of skilled nursing standards of care, and federal and state regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care reimbursement rules. A high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills, and compassionate leadership qualities are must-haves. Candidates must be able to think critically, and adapt quickly to new situations. As a clinical leader, the Director of Nursing will hold accountable any care provider in the community.

  • Earning competitive pay in the $130K to $140K range (*with the top end being reserved for RNs with long tenure & a track record of success as a SNF DON including strong survey results, team mentoring & retention, and resident satisfaction*)

Ideal candidates will bring:
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Washington (RN in WA)
  • Previous experience as a clinical leader/ manager
  • Strong knowledge of Skilled Nursing Facility regulations both State and Federal
  • Stable tenure in prior jobs
  • Measurable track record of success as shown through Survey results, stable staff retention rates, high or increased census numbers, etc.
  • Upbeat and encouraging leadership style with clear communication of expectations & ability to mentor/ educate and grow future leaders
  • Affinity for seniors & desire to see them well cared for and served
  • Bonus - any experience providing healthcare to those needing mental health/ behavioral health care
