    We are searching for a motivated Director of Patient Safety in an acute care healthcare facility in Austin, TX!
    Austin, Texas, known as the "Live Music Capital of the World," has a vibrant history that includes its founding in 1839 as the capital of the Republic of Texas. Today, visitors can explore attractions like the Texas State Capitol, a stunning example of Renaissance Revival architecture, and the lively South Congress Avenue, famous for its eclectic shops and food trucks. The city's cultural scene is enriched by annual festivals like South by Southwest (SXSW) and Austin City Limits, showcasing music, film, and art.


    Job Summary
    As the Director of Patient Safety, you will advance a patient safety program that promotes a culture of safety and the elimination of avoidable harm. You will work to prevent future harm by initiating and overseeing proactive evaluation and redesign of systems to improve care processes. 
    • You will support improved outcomes by emphasizing both appropriate behaviors and robust systems that include concise accountability measures and follow up
    • You will reduce variation in care delivery by partnering with the patient safety organization to explore identified variations when appropriate 
    • You will utilize alerts and best practices to perform gap assessments and implement strong actions that will alleviate identified gaps 
    • You will effectively report, investigate, and analyze patient safety incidents, medical errors, and potential risks in the facility
    • You will facilitate thorough and credible serious events analysis and failure mode analysis 
    • You will perform patient safety rounds to identify patient safety risks and empower staff to identify and participate in resolution of patient safety concerns 
    • You will coordinate disclosure of serious events to patients and/or families 
    • You will champion completion of the Culture of Safety Survey and facilitate analysis of survey results to create data-driven action plans 
    • You will support and encourage harm reporting throughout the organization 
    • You will provide feedback that acknowledges the value of event reporting and review of reported events
    • You will include patient safety in new hire orientation presentations and provide continuing ongoing education to leaders, clinicians and staff 
    • You will partner with executive and clinical leaders to promote a culture of safety and compliance with national patient safety goals 
    • You will oversee the management and use of event information to benchmark and track progress to zero avoidable harm, and provide analysis and identify trends from reports 
    • You will work with legal counsel to coordinate the investigation, processing, and defense of claims against the facility

    What qualifications you will need:
    Experience 
    • Clinical leadership background required, and experience should be recent and within An acute care setting 
    • 3 years of healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality - required
    Education 
    • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field REQUIRED
    • Master's degree in a healthcare related field - preferred 
    Licenses and Certifications:
    • Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS), or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire




    Salary Base: $98K- $140K
