Director of Nursing, Assisted Living opportunity in Ann Arbor, Michigan

We are a faith-based not for profit provider of long term care and senior living dedicated to providing high quality care in a supportive environment for the staff, residents and families. We are looking for an experienced Director of Nursing to lead our assisted living and independent living clinical teams at our beautiful, state of the art Continuing Care Retirement Campus (CCRC) in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. This Director of Nursing (DON) position is an excellent opportunity to become part of a highly regarded organization providing local regional and corporate support. 

Director of Nursing, Assisted Living Responsibilities include:

  • Assures a nursing organizational structure exists that supports clinical and administrative standards and goals, and enables the facility to fulfill its mission
  • Creates systems, processes, and programs to achieve the mission, goals and strategic plan for the assisted and independent living. 
  • Fosters an effective nursing management team focusing on retention
  • Is knowledgeable of all applicable regulations governing long term care
  • Determines the qualifications and numbers of staff needed to meet the needs of the residents and to achieve the objectives of the facility, and implements the staffing plan accordingly
  • Implements and evaluates a system for identifying the resource needs of residents
  • Assures work schedules are developed for nursing services personnel to provide adequate 24 hour coverage that meets residents' nursing care needs

Director of Nursing (DON/DNS) Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in clinical management as a Director of Nursing (DON/DNS) or Nurse Manager in independent living, assisted living, skilled/long term care or post-acute care.
  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing
  • Full knowledge of state and federal healthcare rules and regulations
  • Experience with department of health surveys
  • Proven ability to build a quality team and implement retention strategies
  • Ability to implement new policies, procedures, and programs related to acuity of residents
  • Possess effective communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy and competency skills
