Meet Jen, Dir. of Business Development - Travel Nursing and Providers

Meet Jen Millican, Director of Business Development - Travel Nursing and Providers. Jen is located in our South Carolina office and we asked her some questions about her responsibilities as well as her favorite vacation destination. Check out her interview below!

1. How long have you been with LeaderStat?
Since the start up of our Locums and RN Travel Division 2.5 years.

2. What is your position now and what are your primary responsibilities?
Regional Business Development Director and Account Management…..I source for and market to new clients in all settings; Hospitals, Home Health, Hospice, Acute Care, LTACHs, Behavioral Health and wherever else they may need Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers. I manage those accounts to make sure they are receiving quality candidates and handle all conflict resolution while on assignment. I also recruit when there are hard to fill needs and then manage the Nurses on my book of business as well.

3. What does your typical day look like?
My typical day would be to start the day with housekeeping items; time sheets, schedules, returning emails, handling any conflicts from the night before, negotiating any new contracts, Managing my VMS systems and sending any new needs out to our recruiters, when I send the needs out I also put together the rate calculations for the recruiters so they have a range to offer their candidates that aligns with our goals. Posting jobs, researching and cold calling who may have possible needs for new candidates, reaching out to those and adding them to my targets. Of course, there is recruiting in there and updating my current clients on where we are with their needs. I try to update them 2-3 times a week in regards to our recruiting efforts and where we are in the process. Submitting candidates, setting up interviews and handling offers for our submitted candidates as well. There is a lot of negotiation going on, on many levels, all throughout my day!

4. What do you love most about your job?
That there are so many variables. No day is the same. No candidate or client is thee same. However, over the last 18 years of my staffing career, my MOST favorite thing that has kept me so very happy in this industry is to be able to offer wonderful opportunities to hard working Nurses or Providers and giving our clients really excellent talent that will take good care of their patients. I love managing my accounts and giving them lots of attention. It’s been said that I spoil my clients and make them NEVER want to work with anyone else!

5. What do you enjoy least?
When I have to tell a client I cannot find their perfect fit. It does happen from time to time and sometimes we will have to realign expectations. Most of the time it is due to a very sought after specialty coupled with a tough geographical area to fill.

6. What do you prefer – eat in or go out, and why?
I prefer to eat in because I LOVE to cook and I (and my kids) like my cooking more than anyone at a restaurant…..most of the time!

7. What is your favorite vacation destination?
I LOVE the mountains and go several times a year. My dream destination is Ireland! I want to see all the castles, rolling hills and then just visit the small towns and local pubs! I am Irish so I would fit right in!

Thanks, Jen! We love your enthusiasm and appreciate you taking some time to tell us a little bit more about your position with LeaderStat.
